One of the things I have been wanting to make a part of my daily routine for a long time is morning yoga practice. My old job had me at work so early in the morning that if I wanted to do yoga before I left the house I would have to be up at 3:30am. Since becoming self-employed I have tried a couple times to instate this in my morning routine, but I’ve never really stuck with it. While the 30 Day Minimalism Challenge only says I have to do each part once, I’m trying to maintain some of the good habits I start as part of the challenge. Yoga is one of those I hope to keep up with.
My new morning routine looks something like the following:
- Wake up
- Feed the cat—she won’t let me do anything else until this happens
- Do my daily yoga practice
- Make coffee and breakfast
- Get ready for my day
- Jillian Michael’s Yoga Meltdown—Only level 1 is available for free on YouTube, but it’s the full workout, but it’s still pretty intense and rewarding.
- Gaiam Yoga for Beginners Kit—I like this kit as it has everything you need to start practicing. The fact that it came with a DVD, mat, strap and block for the price of other mats alone is what sold me on this and I really enjoy the guided yoga by Rodney Yee.
- Yoga Studio for iPad—This is hands down the best yoga app I have found. Workouts for all levels and time frames, the ability to make your own custom workout and not requiring you to be connected to the internet in order to use make this app amazing, extpecially if you’re traveling.
- Yoga with Adreine—I just found this YouTube channel this week and so far it’s been promising. I’m planning to start her 30 Day Yoga Challenge in the next week or so.
